This Privacy Policy explains how BeanThere ("we," "us," or "the app") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the BeanThere mobile application.

Account information: your email (registered accounts) or nothing at all (guest accounts, which are fully anonymous). Profile information: username, bio, favorite coffee, and profile photo. Content you create: reviews, ratings, notes, and photos, including cafe name/location for cafe reviews. Location: accessed only while you're using location-based features (Near Me feed, tagging a review with your current location), never in the background. Photos and camera: accessed only for the specific photo you choose to attach — we never scan your broader library. Push notifications: a device push token, stored only if you enable notifications. Social graph: who you follow, who follows you, and badges you unlock.
To operate core features (reviews, feeds, following, badges, cafe search), send notifications you opted into, keep the service secure, and improve the app. We do not use your information for targeted advertising, and we never sell your personal information.
We share information only with service providers needed to run the app: Firebase/Google Cloud (backend, auth, storage), the Google Places API (cafe search queries), and Expo (push notification delivery — only a device token, not your content). Other users can see your username, avatar, bio, favorite coffee, your reviews, and your followers/following — this is inherent to how a social review app works, and is visible to any signed-in user, guests included. We never share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
We keep your data as long as your account exists. Deleting your account (Settings → Delete Account) permanently removes your profile, reviews, and photos, and removes you from other users' follow lists, within a reasonable time.
View/edit your profile anytime in the app. Permanently delete your account and all data from Settings → Delete Account (irreversible). Revoke location or notification permissions anytime in your device settings. Browse most of the app as a guest with no personal data at all. If you're in a region with specific data protection rights (e.g. GDPR, CCPA), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or export your data — contact us to exercise them.
BeanThere is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Contact us if you believe a child has provided us information, and we will delete it.
We rely on Firebase's security infrastructure and authenticated access rules to protect your data. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
We may update this policy from time to time; material changes will update the date above. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the update.
